General

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid derived from cannabis/hemp. It is being studied for many purposes – with many findings that suggest health benefits.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds with the formula C21H30Othat interact with our bodies’ Endocannabinoid Systems. There are phytocannabinoids – that occur in nature (commonly in cannabis), and there are endocannabinoids – that occur within the body. CBD is one of 113+ cannabinoids that have been discovered. CBD is also the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are naturally occurring aromatic compounds with the formula  C10H16 that are responsible for the taste and smell of many plants and fruits. Terpenes are abundant in the essential oils and resins of plants. When it comes to cannabis, studies suggest that the terpenes work in synergy with the cannabinoids to produce what is called the Entourage Effect. This is the idea that all of the plant’s beneficial compounds work together to create a fuller effect than they would have individually. CBD isolate by itself has been shown to not be nearly as effective as it is when ingested as a full spectrum extract (including cannabinoids and terpenes).

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Hemp and marijuana are the same plant species – Cannabis Sativa. Because our CBD oil contains less than 0.3% THC, it is considered a hemp product. The difference between hemp and medical marijuana is the THC content. They are both the same species scientifically (Cannabis Sativa), the federal statute – the 2014 U.S. Hemp Farm Bill – just differentiates between them by the amount of THC they contain. Hemp has less than 0.3% THC so it is non-psychoactive, marijuana contains more than 0.3% THC so it has psychoactive effects.

Many studies suggest that both CBD and THC are needed for maximum health benefits – the psychoactive effects of THC are often what is needed when looking for relief. If you are looking for a product that contains more THC (such as a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio) then you would need to obtain it from a medical or recreational marijuana dispensary (in a state with legal medical/recreational marijuana). If you are looking for the medicinal effects of cannabis without the THC (no high) then we suggest a daily dose of Kind Spectrum CBD – no medical licensing needed.

Our oil is full spectrum – so it includes as many cannabinoids as possible (CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC, trace amounts of THC, etc.) while still being under the legal limit of THC. So there is no high or inebriating effects.

The legal definition of “industrial hemp,” per Section 7606 of the Agricultural Appropriations Act of 2014, is “INDUSTRIAL HEMP — The term ‘‘industrial hemp’’ means the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”

CBD derived from Hemp vs. CBD derived from Marijuana?

It is a common misconception that CBD extracted from hemp vs. marijuana are different,  the cannabinoids are the same molecular compound. CBD extracted from a hemp plant is the same as CBD extracted from a marijuana plant. In fact, hemp and marijuana are the same plant scientifically, they just have different levels of THC (the psychoactive compound). They are both technically cannabis, but given the names hemp and marijuana by the Federal Statute – the 2014 U.S. Hemp Farm Bill – to differentiate between products that produce a high and products that don’t.

Our CBD oil is derived from high potency hemp. Our farms have bred their hemp plants specifically for high CBD content. Our farms grow hemp plants for therapeutic value (high cannabinoid/terpene content), not for industrial value (high fiber content). These plants are very resinous and look very different than traditional industrial hemp plants. In fact, they look just as dense, resinous, and cannabinoid/terpene rich as high grade marijuana. All of our plants are grown in Colorado sunshine by local organic farmers.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The Endocannabinoid System is a lipid signaling network that consists of CB1 and CBreceptors that control or modulate numerous physiological and pathophysiological processes. All vertebrates have an Endocannabinoid System. Our CB1 and CBreceptors are located in the nervous, digestive, and immune systems, as well as connective tissues, glands, and other organs. The function of many of these receptors is to assist the body toward homeostasis.

What is the difference between Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate?

Full Spectrum CBD extracts contain all of the constituents (cannabinoids, terpenes, etc.) that are present in the hemp plant. Ingesting the full spectrum of cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC, THCV, etc.) along with the terpenes (B-Caryophyllene, Limonene, Pinene, Myrcene, etc.) allows the entourage effect to occur.

The Entourage Effect was a term introduced in 1998 by Ben-Shabat and Raphael Mechoulam stating that the many compounds present in cannabis have different properties when ingested alone, as opposed to when they are ingested together in a full spectrum.

Many of these compounds interact synergistically to create what scientists refer to as an “entourage effect” that magnifies the therapeutic benefits of the plant’s individual components—so that the medicinal impact of the whole plant is greater than the sum of its parts.

This is why we believe in providing full spectrum products that include all of the beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes that were originally present in the plant. This is providing relief – as nature intended.

Where do we source our hemp?

We source our hemp from local organic farmers that grow the most cannabinoid/terpene rich hemp that we can find. By searching for the most diverse spectrums of cannabinoids, we are able to formulate CBD products that are truly potent and effective. With the high potency hemp that we source, paired with our expertise in cannabinoid science and cannabinoid extraction, we are able to create CBD products that are paving the way for the standards of quality CBD.

How is our CBD extracted?

Our in house laboratory uses proprietary extraction techniques that allow us to separate beneficial compounds from high-potency cannabinoid/terpene rich hemp plants, creating a full spectrum hemp extract. We do this by utilizing various mechanical separations as well as green solvents such as food grade organic cane ethanol and CO2, the standard methods for organic botanical extraction. Our processes use no extreme heat or pressure, keeping the whole plant extract with all terpenes and cannabinoids intact. These processes prevent the need for harsh chemicals, resulting in clean, solvent-free full spectrum hemp extracts. To ensure our products are always at the upmost cleanliness and quality, we meticulously test and verify each batch with the most trusted state of the art laboratories in the United States. What is the difference between the "Whole" CBD oil and the "Refined" CBD oil?

Our “Whole” CBD Oil is made with our full spectrum CBD extract and carrier oil. We extract the entire spectrum of beneficials available (cannabinoids, terpenes, and other phytochemicals) from high potency organic hemp. By starting with cannabinoid rich hemp, implementing state of the art extraction techniques, and employing extensive quality control practices, our Whole Spectrum CBD oil is the most pure and potent unrefined full spectrum extract available on the market.

Our “Refined” CBD Oil is made with our broad spectrum CBD extract and carrier oil.  We start with full spectrum extract, and then we refine it – removing the THC, lipids, chlorophyll, and waxes so that the extract is primarily CBD, CBG, CBN, CBDa, CBDv, and terpenes. Our refinement processes use no extreme heat or pressure, so the cannabinoids and terpenes remain intact and preserved. Using special refinement technology, we are able to fully remove THC without removing or compromising any other cannabinoids or terpenes.

The Refined CBD Oil is good for people who do not like the taste of the Whole CBD Oil, and people looking for a 100% THC-free product.

What is the difference between "full spectrum" CBD and "broad spectrum" CBD?

Full spectrum CBD oil contains all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other phytochemicals that were originally present in the plant. Broad spectrum CBD oil contains all of the same components without THC. Broad spectrum CBD oil is 100% THC Free.

We have developed and implemented state of the art refinement methods that do not require high heat or pressure. This allows all of the cannabinoids and terpenes to remain fully intact. The only compounds that are removed from the full spectrum CBD Oil to make the broad spectrum CBD Oil are lipids, chlorophyll, waxes (these are the compounds that cause the strong taste), and THC.

What is the recommended dosage for me?

When it comes to CBD, the dosage varies from person to person. All of our bodies’ cannabinoid receptors exhibit different absorption rates, therefore we all experience varying bio-availability when it comes to our endocannabinoid systems. A good place to start for most people is with 25-30mg of CBD daily. This would equate to 8-10 drops daily of Kind Spectrum CBD Oil. (Either Whole CBD Oil or Refined CBD Oil).
